Two Cute!

This picture was actually taken by their nurse Tess while they were still in the hospital, but it was so cute we thought we should post it. I know we are biased, but come on, it doesn't get much cuter than that!

Wee Ones

The girls are laying next to Wee Bundles, they are dolls made to be the same size and weight the girls were when they were born. It's really amazing to see how far they've come in five months.

Abigail Comes Home!

Abigail was discharged from the NICU yesterday, now both girls are home!

Jenna Comes Home!

Jenna came home last night, here are some pictures of her first bath at home! She spoiled her mommy and daddy by being a really good girl last night, she slept through the night, just waking up for feedings, then going right back to bed. She hopes to be joined by her sister at home early next week.

Jenna and Abigail have only had a few opportunites to hang out in the same crib. They had a chance last week and were very excited to play together. Looks like they are going to have to learn to play a little more nicely. Round one goes to Abigail!

I am not sure how much longer I can call this the Monday weight update if I continue to wait until Tuesday to make the post.

The girls got back into their growing ways. They seem to be happier on their latest mix of formula additions and it has given them enough calories to grow. Now all they need to do is work their way up to doing all the work on their own.

Monday Weight Update

The girls didn't have much of a weight gain this past week, but it was something that was more expected than a concern. The doctors have been trying different fortifiers to add to the breastmilk that gives them a calorie boost and their systems can tolerate well. They tried one called Alimentum (by Similac) which is supposed to be easier on their tummies, but they absolutely hated (it smelled horrible to us too) and started having an aversion to their bottles which they were making good progress on up till then. As a result, they had to take out all fortifiers and give them a couple days of tube only feedings to get rid of the aversion. Due to the lower calories they were getting, they didn't gain any weight. Also, Abigail had eye surgery on Friday (it went well) and was taken off feedings completely for about a day or so.

Over the weekend they switched them to adding Neosure (also by Similac) to the breastmilk to increase the calories. So far they seem to be much happier with their bottles, and if their tummies continue to tolerate it they can hopefuly start weaning them down on the tube feedings as long as they keep taking bottles well.

Girls Like Bouncy Seats

The girls have been enjoying their new bouncy seats, it's a nice change of scenery for these busy babies that have started to be more awake during the day.

Getting Bigger!

The girls are now officially out of their preemie clothes and diapers and into newborn! Both girls are showing more interest in their bottles, it's just hard baby work to wake up and stay awake for their feedings!

More Halloween

Happy Boo To You!

The girls dressed up for their first Halloween! They actually fit into cabbage patch kid clothes. Jenna was none too pleased about getting into her costume, but as you can see quickly settled in.

The girls are really moving up in the world, not only have they moved down to NICU South a couple weeks ago, now they are out of their isolettes in into big girl cribs!

The Girls Eat From Bottles!

Both girls tried drinking out of bottles for the first time today! Daddy fed Abigail and Mommy

fed Jenna. Abigail did a great job, however Jenna decided that she was just a little too sleepy to drink much, but practice makes perfect!
